John Spencer,just four days before his 59th birthday, dies from a heart attack, at Los Angeles hospital. He is known for his emmy award winning performance on the NBC show The West Wing, as Leo McGarry the Democratic Vice-presidential nominee.

Spencer is no stranger to Television and is also known for his role as Tommy Mullaney on the NBC long running but departed show L.A. Law. He made his acting debut on The Patty Duke Show in the 60s. Spencer, whose real name is John Speshock, was New York born and raised. He started off in regional theater and off-Broadway productions in the 70s and 80s. He has appeared on numerous shows such as Miami Vice, Spencer for Hire, and Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, as well as in movies, The Negotiator, Copland, and The Rock. No other details have been released from his publicist, Ron Hoffman, regarding his death and funeral arrangements have not been made as of yet.
