John Travolta, Judge Drop Extortion Case
John Travolta dropped charges against two people accused of trying to extort money from him.
A Bahamas judge dismissed the charges on Monday. Travolta said he did not want to relive the pain associated with the death of his son, Jett, reports Philly.com.
Jett Travolta, 16, died from a seizure in January 2009 at his family's vacation home in Grand Bahama.
Tarino Lightbourne, an ambulance driver who helped tend to Jett the day of his death, and Pleasant Bridgewater, an attorney and politician, allegedly threatened to release private information surrounding Jett's death.
Lightbourne reportedly sought $25 million from the Travoltas. Bridgewater resigned her seat in the Senate after being charged.
The pair faced an earlier trial in October but the judge declared a mistrial when a lawmaker suggested the deliberating jury had acquitted one of the accused.
