Johnny Depp dishes about his private island

Depp finds his santuary

Johnny Depp is one of Hollywood's most respected and admired stars, yet despite his success he is still able to remain unfazed by all of the glitz, specifically on his purchased island in the Bahamas, according to msnbc.com. Depp explains that the island is his "decompression," a place he goes to get away from the bustle of city life.

According to People.com, Depp's part of the island is titled "Pond Cay," and several inlets are named after his family—partner Vanessa Paradis, and their two children Lily and Jack. One specific beach has been dubbed "Heath's Place," after the tragic death of young actor Heath Ledger. On Pond Cay snorkeling with nurse sharks and tropical fish is common, with Depp calling the locale "pure and beautiful."

Depp states that after becoming stressed and preoccupied from working on films, Pond Cay is his sanctuary, a place to disappear during holidays and free time.
