Actor Johnny Depp is going to cover the cost to fulfill the last wishes of gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson who committed suicide in February.
Depp will pay for the construction of a 150-foot structure that will shoot Thompson's ashes onto his Colorado ranch. A cannon will be placed at the top of the tower, which will be designed to resemble Thompson's "gonzo fist" emblem.
The two men became friends when Depp portrayed the author in the film adaptation of Thompson's book "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas." The private ceremony will take place on August 20.
