Johnny Knoxville Airport Prank Fails

You would think with all that goes on with airport security these days, people would be on their best behavior. Clearly, Johnny Knoxville doesn't apply to that.

E! reports that the former star of MTV's daredevil series, Jackass, has been hit with a criminal complaint by the Los Angeles City Attorney's office. Screeners at Los Angeles International Airport found a grenade in his luggage Thursday morning.

LAX Police Sgt. Jim Holcomb said, "As he was being screened, security noticed an image of a hand grenade in his carry-on. Airport police and the bomb squad were called and it was determined there were no explosives or firing pin."

As for his excuse for the event, Knoxville, 38, said it was a misunderstanding and he didn't mean to cause alarm at the airport.

Holcomb said, "He told police it was a prop from a photo shoot and he completely forgot it was in his bag."

Knoxville was cooperative with the police and they eventually let him go so he could board his flight to Miami at 7 a.m.
