Jolie, Pitt Sue Tabloid Over Split Story

Angeline Jolie and Brad Pitt are suing the British-based tabloid News of the World over its claims that the two were breaking up.

The lawsuit is over the claims it published in January saying the two were splitting up their relationship as well as their fortune and assets.

The tabloid had claimed on January 24 that the couple had seen a divorce attorney and that an agreement was signed that would split their assets as well as decide custody of their children. It also claimed that the split was effective immediately. This article caused a number of talks and spinoffs, one of which named Jennifer Aniston as the cause of the separation.

Angry at the allegations and for not printing a retraction and an apology, the couple has hired a London law firm to handle their case. They have issued an official statement, saying they are not breaking up.

Furthermore, Sorrell Trope, the divorce lawyer they supposedly saw claims to never have met or worked with them.

The final nail in the coffin to the rumor happened when the couple showed up at the Super Bowl together as close as can be.

News to the World has issued no comment on the lawsuit.
