Jon and Kate Plus 8 Ð B-Ball and More

While Jon takes care of his mother, Kate brings the kids to the hair cutters and a basketball game.

The kids play with some floam and explain to the cameraman that they are getting haircuts because they are going to be on Oprah. The kids have gotten adjusted to the traveling lifestyle better. Kate wanted to make sure that they have outfits that match. Jon's mother had a broken foot and was over helping her.

Kate explains that they have one helper since they moved into the new house. She is not a nanny, and Kate swears that they won't have a nanny. For Kate, the kids at four and a half are growing up and don't need too much attention from Kate. For privacy, the helper isn't mentioned.

While Kate was in the store, she decided to get spring clothing, even thought it was winter during taping. Cara and Mady have finally gotten to the point where they say no to Kate's clothing choices. The little kids are the easiest, specifically the boys. She hopes that they will always say yes to clothes. Kate then went to her favorite store to figure out which clothes match the kids. She admits to loving shopping.

The kids wandered the house while Kate purchased the clothes. The episode of Oprah was going to be via satellite, instead of in person. This caused one problem since the kids can't really hear the questions. They understand how to behave at a TV set, but not so much with satellite. All eight kids have to get haircuts and Hannah wants her hair short. The kids all go to Kids Cuts. Mady and Cara get upset because they don't want their hair short. Hannah wanted a haircut, and Kate said no. Hannah has longer hair, Alexis has medium length, and Leah has short length. It's a family standard. Each kid gets a piece of candy for their patience.

The cameraman asks Collin what they are doing and he says "Basketball?" and runs off. They are going to see the Harlem Globetrotters; apparently they are avid fans of the show and watch while they tour. The family was invited to watch. Jon has to get some insurance policies ready before they get to go. Jon saw them once when he was younger at a halftime game. Kate thinks of it as comedy disguised as basketball, but she found the whole thing to be "stupid funny" which is appealing to little kids. The kids are amazed by the air ball that floats away. Cara got chosen for a trick. She gets to balance a spinning ball. She gets a signed basketball for thanks.

During halftime, the family got to have a meet and greet. Joel thought that the Globetrotters are bad guys. He is corrected (it was the opposing team the Globetrotters played against) and the kids touch one of the guy's muscles. The kids then go and run around before a photo-op. The kids and the Globetrotters take photos and they get complimentary jerseys with an eight on it. The kids get to spin the ball on their finger. Kate then gets to spin the ball as well. After halftime, the family continues to watch the rest of the show. The kids get to dance the Y.M.C.A. as well. Leah and Cara enjoyed the game, but everyone had a fun time.
