Jon and Kate Plus 8 - Season 4, Episode 27 Recap
In the episode called "Twins Play Mommy," the whole episode focuses on the twins being mom for the day. It's a Saturday and Cara and Mady get to play mom. Kate has to winterize while they play mom. They start with breakfast for the day and they already have a bit of stress from opening the bag. Jon makes sure that they get the bibs on the kids. Mady is upset that Cara puts on the bibs to the boys. Hair is a horrible thing sometimes. The twins have trouble pouring cereal in the bowl and serving to the kids. There is a lot of stress and breaking down. The little kids have a fun day making the girls' day a living hell. Aaden calls them out, which is quite snarky for that age. Cara and Mady make sure that all the kids' teeth are cleaned.
Breakfast is over and Mady has to clean up. They decide to try an art project which they call the "Brown Bear" project. The kids are actually given metal scissors and Colin makes the remark about almost cutting his pinky. All the kids are distracted by Kate walking past the kitchen. Mady takes over. Cara chills in the living room and reads a book. They finish coloring and putting the pictures in the bag. The kids try to show the pictures before Mady wanted them to. Kate thinks she's like Cara and Jon is like Mady. Meaning that Jon is the shouter and Kate is calm and collected. Alexis tells Kate that Mady is a bad mommy. Mady hits meltdown in front of her mother. Kate explains that meltdowns like that are the main reasons for her implementing nap time.
The kids ask Kate what she's doing and she explains the winter clothes. The kids go outside and play, but Mady doesn't want to go and help. Jon kicks a ball into one of the boys. He then proceeds to kick a ball into one of the girls. One of the boys doesn't like the mud, his hands are also wet and cold. Kate is back upstairs and continues to move clothes from the Tupperware container. While Cara is trying to help by playing soccer, Mady sits around and watches TV. She gets a one on one with the cameraperson and they explain that lunch is Chicken Cheese Steaks. They don't know how to turn on the oven.
Although they tried to do most of the meal, Kate walks in and tries to instruct the girls how to make the "cheese steaks." They really aren't a traditional cheese steak, they are more like a chicken parmesan sandwich. Kate tells them to move quickly. The two girls are upset that they didn't help. The kids slowly emerge into the kitchen. Cara is upset that Mady has taken over the whole day. Jon gets chips and by that time, the twins give up and Jon messes up the chip count. Kate cuts up the sandwiches and they all magically make it to the table. Mady storms out. After lunch, Kate finishes up in the closet. Hannah didn't like the twins being parents and missed her mother. The twins learn the hard way how hard it is to be Kate.
