Jon and Kate plus Eight: Camping Out

Even without Jon, Kate lets the kids camp out in the backyard

While the kids play around, Kate announces that it's her first turn with the kids. She decides that she will be camping out with the children. Kate announced that she is starting to do things on her own. She knows that she can't change the fact that kids are kids. She wants to learn to figure out things by herself and become as independent as she can.

Kate decided to camp about three feet away from her house. She unravels Mady & Cara's tent first. Hannah emphasizes to her mother that Jon knows how to install tents. The producers ask the kids how Kate did installing the tent. Mady and Cara were afraid the tent would collapse in the middle of the night. The young girls thought that only boys could build a tent. In the end, Kate managed to build the twins' tent. Fortunately for her, her personal assistants assembled the big tent and placed it exactly where she wanted it.

Kate looks at her assembled tent and is satisfied. The kids head to the pool. Ashley, a family friend, continues to help care for the kids. Mady and Cara point out that some of the girls can finally swim, but others like jumping in the pool. Aaden shivers for the camera.

The kids jump around the tent and get excited for s'mores. Kate decides to add some banana to the s'mores, but the bananas never get used. Kate and Ashley bring the kids around the fire pit. Kate grabs Collin to get the lanterns. Kate doesn't get the principles of building a fire, but understands that she needs newspaper. After some long struggle and impatience, the fire finally gets going.

Kate puts a ring around the fire that the kids can't cross. The kids place marshmallows on a post and burn their marshmallows. The little girls are asked about how much they like burnt marshmallows. Ashley becomes the fire manager and makes sure that the kids don't poke themselves in the eye or fall into the fire.

The twins set up their lanterns and eventually left the smore party and had fun in their own tent. Kate decided to end the smore cooking upsetting some of the kids. She wiped off the kids faces with lemon wipes and then decided to give the kids a shower.

The kids have a glow stick party in the backyard at night. The twins were contently sleeping by themselves, while Kate and the sextuplets slept in the big tent. Kate hung the glow sticks on hooks on the ceiling of the tent. The kids were so tired that they all fell asleep. Kate was happy that she could see the sextuplets all around her.

The producers ask Kate if she would ever camp in the wilderness. Kate is unsure, but would do it if her kids asked her to because she loves them.
