Jon and Kate plus Eight - Tea Party

Kate gets a chance to spend time with the little girls and brings them to a tea house.

In this weeks episode, we flashback to the beach trip during the kitchen renovations. In the second week of vacation, Kate decided to spend time with the kids individually. We previously saw Kate with the boys on "Battleships and Barbers" and this week focuses on the girls. Kate finds information about a tea house for the girls. The girls and Kate take the ferry and the paparazzi take photos as they pass.

Mady and Cara had to come back home early to complete their last week of school. Jon was taking care of them at home. Jon gets the girls two sets of earrings and they were quite excited. The twins don't really get exactly why he gave them the present, but they like it. Cara likes the present, even if she has tom-boyish habits.

Kate and the girls took a horse-drawn carriage. They pet the horse and got in. The girls got a little restless, but they eventually made it to the tea room. The girls are seated and they get to drink the girl's tea. The tea is hot, but the girls patiently wait for it to cool as they add sugar cubes.

Back at home, the twins planted seeds into cups. They read the instructions and expect to see buds within two weeks, but produce in 50-80 days. The girls tried their best to take care of them, until the dogs tried to eat the plants, ending the adventure.

Kate was so nervous that the little girls would crush all the glass, but the girls did a good job. The girls are a little confused by the ideas of "sugar cubes" and "ice cubes" thinking that sugar cubes cool the cups. Kate quickly corrects them. They finish their tea and thank the owners as they leave. Kate brings the girls to a bead store to make jewelry. The girls picked out different types of beads and went to the table. They are excited to do a project without the boys. Kate decided to make Mady and Cara "world bracelets" to remind them that Kate will always be in the girl's hearts. Kate didn't get a lot of these experiences as a kid, so being able to provide them for the girls excites her.

At home Jon mowed an area and decided to make a bonfire for the girls. He immediately uses tabloid news to keep the fire going. While Mady wasn't excited, she settled down with Cara and Jon. They made some hot dogs.

Kate brought the girls to an ice cream shop. She names the flavors of ice cream and the girls pick ice cream flavors that may conflict with their dresses if they make messes. The girls get their ice cream and she gives them napkins.

The twins made father's day cards, but Cara's was the most intricate. She used a stencil that said "dad" in bubble letters and cut them out. Mady watches and is a little upset; she walks away and considers making eggs.

Kate is happy doing smaller trips because she can manage three girls better. It also was more appropriate for the group of kids (the boys wouldn't have liked tea, while the girls wouldn't have liked the ship). She tries her best to make sure that she gives her children as close as she can to one-on-one time.
