Joseph Gordon-Levitt Replaces McAvoy in 'I'm with Cancer'

Uncontrollable circumstances to blame, says Seth Rogen.

It was previously reported that Seth Rogen and James McAvoy were collaborating on a film based on screenwriter Will Reiser's semi-autobiographical script, tentatively titled I'm with Cancer, based on his successful battle with the disease. Unfortunately, it was revealed today that, due to uncontrollable circumstances, McAvoy has had to drop out of the film.

"It's incredibly unfortunate that circumstances outside of everyone's control have taken James away from the project, but, with James's blessing, we were able to have Joseph step in to take on the role of Adam," Rogen stated. "We all look forward to working with James in the future."

Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be filling the void McAvoy left behind. Director Jonathan Levine expressed his gratitude for Gordon-Levitt's swift casting. "I feel extremely lucky that our film has found an exceptional actor to step into the role of Adam. I have admired Joseph's work since Brick, and I am so excited to work with him."

Joseph Gordon-Levitt has recently starred in both the independent romantic comedy, (500) Days of Summer, and the blockbuster action flick, G.I. Joe, and this role will likely allow the multitalented actor to explore a range of emotions, as Reiser has boldly written the film to have both dramatic and comedic elements. Gordon-Levitt will also be seen in this summer's mind-bender, Inception, directed by Christopher Nolan.
