Robert Jenkins and Bradley Whitford have signed on to star in the horror film, "The Cabin in the Woods," which is the brainchild of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer's" creator, Joss Whedon.

Actors Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford will play the two new inhabitants of Joss Whedon's latest horror project, entitled The Cabin in the Woods.

According to HollywoodReporter.com, "Jenkins is on board and Whitford is in final negotiations to star in the mystery-shrouded MGM/UA horror project written by Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard, who also is directing. Whedon is producing."

Cabin's script follows in the footsteps of popular movies like The Blair Witch Project and Cloverfield, in other words; young-people-stranded-in-the-woods but with an engaging new spin.

According to HollywoodReporter.com, "Whedon said the casting signals what kind of movie they are hoping to make. 'They're the first proof that though The Cabin in the Woods is a classic horror film, it isn't one you've seen before.'"

Details as to what kind of characters Jenkins and Whitford will play in the film are sketchy at best, but it seems they will play two co-workers who have a strange link to the cabin.

According to HollywoodReporter.com, Cabin's production and introduction to moviegoers will be swift, "The UA production is prepping for a spring shoot and will open wide Feb. 5, 2010, with MGM distributing."

Jenkins most recently appeared in Burn After Reading, and his critically acclaimed lead role in 2008's The Visitor has earned him a nomination for an Independent Spirit Award for best lead actor.

As for Whitford, he is best-known for his role as "Josh Lyman" on the popular NBC drama, The West Wing. In addition, he has guest starred on television shows like USA's Monk, Frasier and Fox's Malcolm in the Middle. He also appeared in the 2001 Meg Ryan and Hugh Jackman film, Kate & Leopold.
