A Jovial Fund-Raiser for Obama

Rocker Bon Jovi hosts fund-raiser to raise money for presidential candidate.

In yet another case of presidential candidates being helped out via celebrity support, the Associated Press reports that rocker Bon Jovi held a fund-raiser for presidential candidate Barack Obama.

The fund-raiser was a dinner held on Bon Jovi and wife Dorthea's lawn by the Navesink River in Middletown, N.J.

The result? Over 100 people came to the event at a whopping $30,800 a head. The money is planned to be split between the Democratic National Committee and Obama's campaign.

"When I look at Barack, I see an old man," Bon Jovi said while introducing the candidate who was there to speak and greet guests personally.

He addressed the issues of Republican attacks on his character, and said that he would fight back against the negative claims saying, "We're not going to be bullied, we're not going to be smeared, we're not going to be lied about."

"I don't believe in coming in second," Obama also said.

The event was the second that night for both Obama and the Bon Jovis, as both attended a reception at the home of veteran party fund-raiser Phil Murphy earlier that same evening.

That event drew 200 people, who were charged $2,300 a head, and among those gathered was New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine.
