Jude Law Being Courted for New "Sherlock Holmes" Film
Jude Law is reportedly in negotiations to star alongside Robert Downey, Jr. in Warner Brothers' new adaptation of Sherlock Holmes.
According to the notable Hollywood magazine, Law is "close to a deal" to play sidekick Watson to Downey, Jr.'s Holmes in Guy Ritchie's feature.
Ritchie and Anthony Peckham wrote the script based on Lionel Wigram's upcoming comic book, which includes a great deal more action than Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's original novels. Both the script and comic book focus more on Holmes's skills as a boxer and sword-fighter.
Warner Bros. will begin production on Sherlock Holmes next month in London. The studio is hurrying to get the film done before Judd Apatow's Sherlock Holmes comedy, which will star Sacha Baron Cohen as Holmes and Will Ferrell as Watson. It's obviously a comedy.
