It has been almost three years since Chris Brown brutally assaulted Rihanna on the night of the Grammys. Despite being on his best behavior the past few months, a judge decided on Thursday to keep the R&B singer under supervised probation.
Mark Geragos, Brown’s attorney, proposed that his supervised probation end early but Superior Court Judge George Lomeli ruled against it. This means that, until Brown completes his sentence, a probation officer will continue to keep a close eye on him.
Since Brown’s abusive behavior, the Grammy nominee has completed a domestic violence program and three out of the required six months of community service.
Although he has been working diligently to complete his court ordered community service and has passed every drug test, the singer has continued to stir up trouble over the past three years.
Brown’s difficulties with anger management were revealed when he allegedly lashed out after a Good Morning America interview last March. Scheduled to talk about his album F.A.M.E., host Robin Roberts veered off topic and brought up the assault. During the interview, Brown’s anger was hard to miss and he reportedly smashed his dressing room window following his appearance.
He publically apologized by saying he was “disappointed in the way I acted”.
After agreeing to minimize the restraining order against Brown, Rihanna has reportedly been communicating with her ex via Twitter. Also, rumors of a rekindled romance have been circulating. However, sources said these speculations are false.
The two artists are set to perform at the Grammys this Sunday and both are up for several awards.
