Judge orders $1.1 million payment to the family of Notorious B.I.G
The Los Angeles City Council approved a $1.1 million payment of restitution to the family of the slain rapper Notorious B.I.G. A federal judge ordered the fine after leaning that pertinent evidence was withheld by the LAPD during a wrongful death suit filed against Los Angeles by the rapper's family. U.S District Judge, Florence-Marie Cooper, declared a mistrial and ordered the city to pay the family the $1.1 million to help cover the cost of legal fees. Christopher Wallace who was more famously known as Notorious B.I.G. was shot and killed in March 1997. The murder has not yet been resolved. A retrial of the wrongful death case is expected to occur later this year. A new team of Los Angeles police took over the investigation earlier this month and is looking more closely at possible police involvement in the shooting.
