Julia Roberts Honored

Julia Roberst is receiving the 22nd annual American Cinematheque award.

Julia Roberts is being honored by receiving the 22nd annual American Cinematheque award this year. The American Cinematheque is a non-profit cinema-arts group. They have two theaters in California that play classic, experimental and non-mainstream movies. The Egyptian theater is in Hollywood and The Aero theater is in Santa Monica. Previous winners include Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. The group chose Roberts unanimously, according to Rick Nicita, the group chairman. Roberts presented the award to her "Oceans 11" co-star George Clooney last year. "Julia Roberts is a true movie star, who has delighted audiences and critics in so many pictures," Nicita said. Roberts is no stranger to awards; she was nominated for an Oscar for "Steel Magnolias" and "Pretty Woman" and won the award in 2001 for "Erin Brockovich."

The award will be presented on Oct. 12th in Beverly Hills and will play on AMC in December.
