Julia Roberts Returns

Julia Roberts has returned to her acting career after a five-year maternity leave.

She's been absent from the celebrity scene for about five years, but Julia Roberts is determined to make a comeback, according to ABC News.

Roberts has taken the time to focus on her kids and now she's re-introduced to her acting career with her latest film, Duplicity, which she stars in with Clive Owen. The movie earned $14 million at the box office during its opening weekend, coming in third behind Knowing and I Love You, Man. Some think Roberts was disappointed with the less-than-satisfactory ticket sales.

One Hollywood studio pro speculated to the Chicago Sun-Times on Monday, "It's clear the stars are shifting. . . . You have to remember, even though Julia Roberts looks great and is only 41, she represents 'Mom's favorite star' to the younger generation of moviegoers in their late teens and early 20s," he said.

Still others say it is hardly a setback, like Ted Casablanca, E! gossip columnist, according to ABC News, "She's the last person concerned about it. . . . She's got the Oscar, a great dossier and a great box office track record. She doesn't care. I find her like a modern [Greta] Garbo with a family. I think everyone is fretting but Julia Roberts. With the right project she could come back in an instant."

Senior editor for Us Weekly, Bradley Jacobs, agreed, "I don't think (the film's box office return) is going to make Julia go back and say, 'I need a hit now.'"
