Julianna Margulies plays "The Good Wife"
CBS has come up with a series that may explain why wives of cheating politicians stay around. The show will be titled "The Good Wife" and will star Julianna Margulies.
Margulies will play Alicia Florrick, a wife that has been wronged by her Illinois state's attorney husband. The first scene is of Alicia standing alongside her husband at the podium and as he apologizes for the wrong he has done.
Chris North plays Margulies on-screen husband.
The buzz around the new CBS series is a step up for Margulies. Her last role was in the short-lived legal drama "Canterbury's Law," but she is best known for her role on NBC's "ER" as Nurse Carol Hathaway.
Margulies, 43, is married and has this to say about her character Alicia's decision to stand by her man, "My reaction would have been to get the hell out of there. Until I put myself in her shoes since I've been playing her everything has changed."
"The Good Wife" will premiere Tuesday at 10pm on CBS.
