Julianne Moore Gave It Up for Hollywood

Moore's risks paid off.

Actress Julianne Moore admits that she gave up a nine-year marriage as part of her journey to find Hollywood success, WENN reports.

In 1995, the actress left husband John Gould Rubin and decided to do something for herself: move to Los Angeles.

"I was unhappy in my mid-30s and trying to make it in movies. I thought, 'It's now or never,'" she recalls.

She left New York, seeing better opportunities on the west coast, but was still very worried that her age may negatively affect her prospects. "[I thought I was] too old for Hollywood," she recalls.

The coast to coast leap of faith was a scary one.

"I left our home in New York and traveled nearly 3,000 miles to Los Angeles to get a new life. I remember sitting on the plane thinking, 'What on earth is going to happen to me?'" Moore remembers.

And yet it seems all her risks paid off. She's gone on to have a successful career in film to say the least, with four Academy Award nominations under her belt.
