Jury Declares Anna Nicole Smith's Son Died of Overdose
Like mother like son. Monday a jury in the Bahamas ruled that the son of the late Anna Nicole Smith died of a drug overdose, Reuters.com reported. It took 73 minutes for the 7-member jury to come to a unanimous decision of what caused Daniel Smith's death. The results do not indict any criminal charges, the Associated Press reported.
The 20-year-old died Sept. 10, 2006 in the Bahamas, where he was visiting his mother and newborn half-sister Dannielynn, People Magazine reported. An autopsy revealed, according to People, that there was a "lethal combination" of methadone and Zoloft and Lexapro.
Neil McCabe, the attorney to Daniel's grandmother Virgie Arthur, was not pleased with the jury's decision, reported the AP. Arthur has believed that Anna Nicole's former boyfriend, Howard K. Stern, played a role in Daniel's death. Arthur, however, according to the AP, did not have any evidence.
Anna Nicole died of a drug overdose in Feb. 2007. She was buried next to her son in the Bahamas, Reuters reported.
