Jury Says Anna Nicole Smith's Son Died of Drug Overdose
According to Reuters, a jury in the Bahamas decided on Monday that Anna Nicole Smith's son, Daniel Smith, died from an overdose of prescription drugs.
Daniel died on September 10, 2006 at a hospital in the capital of the Bahamas while visiting his mother and her newborn daughter, Dannielynn. Two autopsies confirmed that an excessive amount of several different prescription drugs, including methadone, were found in his system which caused his death. He was 20.
Anna Nicole Smith died months later in February 2007 of an accidental prescription drug overdose in Florida. She was 39.
Dannielynn was declared the sole heir to Anna Nicole's estate by a Los Angeles judge earlier this month. This could mean the girl would inherit a multi-million dollar fortune if the battle over the will of Smith's late husband, Howard Marshall, settles in her favor. Marshall was an 89-year-old oil tycoon when he married then 26-year-old Smith.
