Justin Bieber's 'Never Say Never' Passes Michael Jackson's 'This is It'

MIchael Jackson was breaking records even after his death. His posthumous movie Michael Jackson: This Is It became the most successful concert-themed film in U.S. history, but Justin Bieber is poised to take that away from the "King of Pop".

Justin Bieber: Never Say Never has earned $72.2 million in the domestic box office so far, just passing Jackson's $72.1 million. Bieber's film has impressively made that much money in 6 weeks, but it is unclear whether he will get the numbers that Jackson got worldwide.

Michael Jackson’s This Is It grossed a total of $261.2 million at the global box office, while Justin Bieber has only grossed $83 million worldwide, All Headline News reports.

The impressive U.S. numbers were probably lifted by the re-release of the film recently with 40 additional minutes of bonus footage from director Jon M. Chu. Along with performances from Bieber’s concert at Madison Square Garden, and guest appearances from Usher and Miley Cyrus, the film also shows behind-the-scenes footage and video of Bieber growing up.

Bieber still has a long way to go if he wants to be one of the top-grossing documentaries of all time. Never Say Never is in 3rd place, behind March of the Penguins and Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 which has taken in $119.1 million to date, according to MTV.com.
