Justin Timberlake not a Taylor Hicks fan
Performer Justin Timberlake speaks out against Taylor Hicks, the fifth winner of "American Idol," in an interview with Fashion Rocks magazine.
The "SexyBack" singer spoke to the magazine shortly after the "Idol" finale in May, saying about Hicks, "people think he looks so normal, and he's so sweet, and he's so earnest, but he can't carry a tune in a bucket."
Timberlake goes on to discuss his mixed feelings about Fox's powerhouse program, which launched the careers of Kelly Clarkson and Clay Aiken, among others.
"I despise it, and yet I'm completely fascinated," he says.
However, Timberlake's publicist Ken Sunshine said the quotes were "taken out of context" and that "he has great affection for anyone who puts himself out there."
Timberlake had his first solo success after NSYNC with 2002's "Justified." His next record "FutureSex/LoveSounds" hits stores Sept. 12, following a much-anticipated performance at the MTV Video Movie Awards airing live Aug. 31.
