Justin Timberlake Takes Fashion South
As he grows into his role as a designer, Justin Timberlake is bringing his own unique flair to the fashion industry atmosphere. The Associated Press reported that Timberlake's William Rast show at New York's Fashion Week on Sunday had a Southern, "backwoods" charm. Timberlake reportedly served Budweiser at the event and set the runway like a front porch extending from a "run-down" house displaying a Tennessee state flag. Another portion of the show featured Timberlake in a "movie-style trailer" playing a Wild West outlaw named William Rast, the AP said. According to NME.com, celebrity guests in the audience included the cast of HBO's Entourage, model Rachel Hunter, and Vogue editor Anna Wintour. It was the first opportunity to see the new clothing line's full collection, NME said. According to the Wall Street Journal, William Rast debuted two years ago as a denim line now sold at Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's. Timberlake and his partner, Trace Ayala, hope to add an accessories line to the ever-expanding brand in the near future.
Timberlake's Fashion Week creation was truly one-of-a-kind, but any real explanation of the show was difficult to come by. Women's Wear Daily reported that Timberlake backed out on scheduled pre-show interviews, and his rumored end-of-show performance never happened, although he did come out for a bow, according to NME.
