K-Rod Allows Second Grand Slam of Season

Francisco Rodriguez became the first pitcher in 14 years to allow two game-ending grand slams in one season.

Just when you think the Mets' season can't get any worse, it does. Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez became the first pitcher in 14 years to allow two game-ending grand slams in the same season, reports USA Today. Perhaps the saddest part of all was that the second walk off grand-slam allowed by K-Rod this season was against arguably the worst team in baseball; the Washington Nationals.
According to the Washington Post>, the grand slam, which was delivered at Nationals Park in the nation's capitol on Wednesday night, was in the 81st and final home game of the season for the struggling Nationals. It was a scene of jubilation that would lead one to think the Nats had won the World Series. The Miami Herald states that Justin Maxwell's grand slam was only the second of his career.
