Kanye West Asked to Leave MTV VMA's
In what may be considered one of the most-talked about events at this year's MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West was asked to leave the event after he interrupted country singer Taylor Swift's acceptance speech for best female video.
As Swift was onstage giving her acceptance speech for her video, "You Belong With Me," West promptly ran up, took the microphone from her hand and said, "I'm sorry, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time."
Beyonce could only respond with a stunned silence. Swift and her mother was seen crying backstage afterwards. Beyonce brought her onstage again later in the show for another chance at her speech.
As for West, he subsequently apologized, saying it was because he had had "a little sippy sippy" beforehand. He was seen drinking from a bottle of Hennessey on the red carpet prior to the show.
The rapper has had a history of such outburst, such as during the 2006 MTV Europe Music Awards when he interrupted artist Justice and Simian during their acceptance speech for their video "We Are Family." He proclaimed that his video was better than theirs because it "cost a million dollars and Pamela Anderson was in it."
