Kanye West Cancels 'Today' Show Appearance after Being "Set Up"

The artist was offended by the show's use of past footage.

Ever the controversial artist, Kanye West has canceled his Nov. 26 appearance on the Today show. According to PopEater, the rapper believed there was a "set up" during his appearance on the show earlier this week.

West was being interviewed by co-host matt Lauer about his 2005 claim that "George Bush doesn't care about black people," and the incident at the 2009 VMA's, in which he interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech for Video of the Year.

The show had been playing footage of both incidents during the interview at a low volume. When the VMA footage played, West stopped mid-sentence.

"Yo, how am I supposed to talk if you gonna run this thing in the middle, while I am talking?" Kanye said, obviously annoyed. "Please don't let that happen again, it's like ridiculous."

Lauer responded to West's comments at the end of the segment, stating that it was common practice, and that "when a guest is talking about an incident or a location, we run video of that."

West promptly canceled his next appearance on the show, and took to Twitter to vent his frustration: "I'm not performing on the Today show for obvious reasons. I'm so happy the world got to see just a small piece of "the set up."
