Kanye West urges people to give Brown "a break."

In the midst of the Chris Brown and Rihanna fiasco, one person has come out in defense of Chris Brown. Fellow singer and rapper Kanye West is backing him up, reports MTV. In a taping of VH1's Storytellers, West revealed his sympathies for Brown, who was arrested and booked after assaulting girlfriend Rihanna.

"Can't we give Chris a break?" Kanye asked the audience of Storytellers. "I know I make mistakes in life." According to Reuters, the audience applauded loudly after these comments, prompting Kanye to support other dubious performers such as Michael Jackson, Michael Phelps, and O. J. Simpson.

"Michael Jackson, amazing. Michael Phelps, amazing. . . . He's a real f***in' person; he makes mistakes. O. J. Simpson, amazing. Is he not? What he did, when he did, what he did. Was he not amazing, though?" he said.

Another person who believes Chris Brown deserves a break is Rihanna, who has taken Brown back. While many friends and fans may be surprised to see the couple together, domestic violence experts are not.

"It makes perfect sense that she would go back to him," Madeline Garcia Bigelow, director of the domestic violence project at Manhattan's Urban Justice Center, told the Daily News. "The reality is that when you're in an intimate relationship with anyone, you tend to give people chances."

Rihanna's father told People magazine that he would support his daughter's decision to stay with Brown and the couple are currently staying at Diddy's Miami Beach mansion.
