Kanye West Leads Grammy Race

The acclaimed rap artist gets 10 nods for the 47th annual Grammy Awards for his debut album.

Kanye West's socially conscious album, "The College Dropout" garnered ten Grammy nominations on Tuesday. The rapper, who claimed he was "definitely robbed" at the American Music Awards, is singing a different tune with all of this Grammy gratitude.

"When I made (the album) I thought these were the types of songs... the Grammys would like to get behind," West told E News live. "I couldn't even imagine ten nominations in my wildest dreams. I appreciate being recognized."

R&B's "it" boy, Usher received eight nominations for his album "Confessions," and for his collaboration on "My Boo" with piano diva Alicia Keys. Keys also received eight nominations for "The Diary of Alicia Keys".

The late great Ray Charles was acknowledged with seven Grammy nominations for his best selling album of his career, "Genius Loves Company." His duet with Norah Jones, "Here We Go Again," received a nomination for record of the year.

The popular punk group Green Day broke the R&B/Rap Grammy trend by receiving six nominations for their take on social issues on the album "American Idiot".
