Kanye's late arrival makes him far from 'the greatest'
Kanye West may think of himself as the greatest, but his actions at the 2008 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival did little to cement his appeal to his loyal fans.
According to eFluxMedia and the Associated Press, West was expected to perform at the festival at 2:45 a.m., as part of an ensemble that included bands like Metallica and Pearl Jam. West, however, was late to his own party...not showing up until 4:25 a.m.
This act caused audience members to chant "Kanye sucks," some even chose to pelt him with glow sticks to express their disappointment.
According to DotMusic.com, organizers of the event attribute the source of West's delay to the complexity of his glow-in-the-dark stage backdrop.
While Kanye's delayed arrival led to an overall satisfactory performance, audience members refused to forgive him, a factor that was exacerbated when he refused to apologize to his fans.
According to eFluxMedia, Robert Randolph, a guitarist for Pedal Steel, felt that "Kanye really disappointed his fans."
Showing up late to a sold-out concert is a sure way to lose your fan base; if someone waited that long to perform at my gathering, I would be disappointed too.
