In a 42-slide senior thesis PowerPoint presentation entitled “An education beyond the classroom: excelling in the realm of horizontal academics,” Duke graduate Karen Owen detailed her sexual conquests and profiled 13 Duke athletes she slept with. After distributing her elaborate kiss-and-tell to three friends, the thesis was forwarded to the entire student body at Duke University and it has since gone viral on the Internet.
As a result, Owen has become one of the most hated women in America, according to Buzz Catalog. In response to the negative publicity she has received for her lack of modesty and moral discretion, she has taken down all of her social network profiles and seemingly gone into hiding.
Not only did the Duke graduate provide ratings on a scale of 1 to 10 for each of the athletes she had intercourse with, but she also gave names, dates, and private physical attributes such as “the length and girth of the subjects’ hardware.”
Although she is turning down interview requests left and right, Owen told Jezebel.com, “The people that are named are the kinds of people that everyone wants to be or be with. I regret it with all my heart. I would never intentionally hurt the people that are mentioned on that.”
While feminist Dr. Ian Kerner believes Owen’s sex list gives “men a dose of their own medicine,” writer Alyssa Granacki told the Duke Chronicle, “Why should we congratulate Karen Owen for subjecting men to the objectification, embarrassment, and harassment that women have fought against for years?”
