Kari Ann Peniche Denounces Dr. Drew and Enters Rehab
Dr. Drew wasn’t able to get through to former Miss Teen USA Kari Ann Peniche during her stint in Celebrity Rehab and now she’s fighting back.
Before checking herself in to the Summit Rehab center in Malibu, California, on Thursday for her addiction to crystal meth, Peniche took time out to trash the show and Dr. Drew Pinsky to Radar Online.
The 26-year-old Playboy model blames the VH1 reality show for her current troubles. She told the site, “Celeb Rehab f*cked me up worse than before I got there so this time I want real treatment.” She added, “This time I want to be in individualized treatment, I don't want to do boot camp, I don't want to be yelled at, I don't want to be yelled at by other patients and I don't want to say the serenity prayer.”
Peniche was a patient at the Pasedena Recovery Center for Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew, but was kicked off the show for not adhering to the rules. She later contacted Dr. Drew and asked him to help her kick her crystal meth habit during the third season of Celebrity Rehab. Upon completion, she participated in Celebrity Rehab Presents Sober House.
Peniche is seeking treatment for more than just her addiction to crystal meth. She said, “It is to work on me. I'm doing it myself because I want to be making the right decisions now. I want clarity and I want to make sober choices.” She checked herself into the Summit Rehab center and plans to remain there for 30 days.
Dr. Drew responded to Peniche’s comments saying, “I'm so glad that Kari is getting help. Kari does very well in that type of setting. I wish her all the best.”
