While Kate Beckinsale had not been behind the camera for two years before filming last weekend’s box office hit Contraband, she is now starring in two more upcoming films.
At first, Beckinsale was unsure how to balance her career with her family. Her primary concern was to take care of her daughter Lilly, who was in the fifth grade when she signed onto her role in Contraband.
“I’d been home for a little while. It wasn’t appropriate to pull her out of school,” said Beckinsale, according to USA Today. “And then Contraband came up. It was a supporting role, it wasn’t that long, and I could see how it worked.”
With her acceptance of her role in the action thriller, she soon found herself running from one set to the next. As she was filming Contraband, she also began filming Underworld Awakening, set to hit theaters January 20, and Total Recall.
While at first Beckinsale was skeptical of getting back behind the camera, according to The Chicago Sun-Times, the adjustments she has made have not compromised her ability to support her daughter.
“I have a very strange existence,” she said. “One minute, I’m in the carpool lane with my daughter. The next minute I’m fighting zombies and werewolves in constricting leather.”
Beckinsale and her husband, director Len Wiseman, worked together on the film Total Recall which shot in Toronto. According to href=http://www.usatoday.com/life/people/story/2012-01-15/kate-beckinsale-contraband-underworld/52585088/1>USA Today, her and her family were able spend time off set together.
Her decision to accept her role in Contraband has sent her full force back into her career.
