Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes are No More

After appearing all smiles at last Sunday night’s Oscar telecast to present the award for Best Actor, it has been reported that Academy Award winning actress Kate Winslet has split from her husband Sam Mendes. According to The New York Daily News, the split between Winslet and her director husband comes after seven years of marriage.

According to a statement released on Monday, the couple’s break up is “entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement.”

The pair first met in 2001 when the Oscar winning director approached the actress to appear in a play. The couple eventually married in 2003 and welcomed a son named Joe in that same year. Prior to the separation, they lived in Chelsea along with Winslet’s daughter Mia from her first marriage with director James Threapleton.

While Winslet won her first Oscar last year for her performance in The Reader, the actress also received a Golden Globe award for her portrayal in Revolutionary Road, which was directed by Mendes.
