Katherine Heigl and Spouse Plan to Adopt

Katherine Heigl and husband Josh Kelley become first-time parents.

During the "Ellen DeGeneres" show, Katherine Heigl announced that she and her husband planned on adopting a baby girl. The episode will air this Friday. These first-time parents will be adopting a 10-month-old Korean baby girl with plans to name her Naleigh.

Naleigh is derived from the names of Heigl's mother (Nancy) and sister (Leigh). The baby's nickname will be Leigh.

Katherine Heigl and husband Josh Kelley have been married since 2007. The adoption process started last year and about six months ago they received information on their new family addition. She has said that she always wanted to adopt. The baby has special needs, and, because of that, the process may move more quickly.

Josh Kelley is a songwriter and Katherine Heigl plays Dr. Izzie Stevens on the ABC show, "Greys Anatomy."

Heigl's spokeswoman, Melissa Kates, confirmed the news but would not provide details.
