Katie Couric for Anderson Cooper?

Insiders discussed Friday about the possible trade of Katie Couric for Anderson Cooper.

According to the New York Daily News, TV insiders discussed the possibility of CNN's Anderson Cooper, who is already a contributor to CBS's 60 Minutes, to replace Katie Couric as the anchor for CBS's "Evening News."

Insiders also considered the option of Couric taking the place of CNN's Larry King, who is 74."Take Katie off the 'Evening News,' let her do 'Larry King,' and then let Cooper anchor," one network source said, according to the Daily News.

However, when asked about the possibility of Couric joining the CNN team as King's replacement, a CNN spokesperson said, "Larry is the best there is; he will be here for a long time."

News began circulating this week of Couric's possible early leave from her show due to low ratings that placed it behind rivals, "ABC World News Tonight with Charles Gibson" and "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams," according to E! News.

"I am working hard and having fun," Couric said in a statement in response to the recent news. "My colleagues continue to impress me with their commitment to the newscast, and I am very proud of the show we put on every day."
