By now, the news that 18-year-old Miley Cyrus was caught on video smoking a bong and giggling about it has made its rounds on the internet, causing many to turn to Twitter and voice their opinions. Two of those people included fellow singer Katy Perry, and, unfortunately for young star, her father.
“Sorry Guys. I had no idea. Just saw this stuff for the first time myself. Im so sad. There is much beyond my control right now.” Billy Ray Cyrus posted on Twitter Friday afternoon.
Earlier that day celebrity news outlet TMZ posted a video of Miley Cyrus smoking out of a bong at what appeared to be a small house party with friends (possibly from her birthday, which was in late November). Reports have said that she was apparently not smoking marijuana but salvia, an herb that has psychedelic qualities and is technically legal in California, where the singer/actress lives. Nevertheless, parents of Cyrus’ many young fans have objected to her decision and have labeled her a bad influence for their youngsters.
Billy Ray Cyrus is currently going through a divorce with Tish Cyrus, Miley’s mother. It has not been reported whether she knew about her daughter using the bong prior to the video being leaked.
Still, not all of the feedback has been full of disappointment or tongue lashing. Katy Perry also tweeted her thoughts on Friday, making light of the situation and jokingly advising Miley to meet rapper Snoop Dog because “he’ll hook ya up!”
