Katy Perry will perform during the premiere of the 36th season of Saturday Night Live.

Comedian Amy Poehler, who was a cast member on SNL from 2001-2008, will host the show’s premiere.

Before officially revealing that she will be the musical guest on the show, Perry posted on her Twitter page Tuesday, "Dear Amy Poehler can I please be your braced faced neighbor friend that hangs out with you & RICKKKKK!"

Perry later tweeted, along with a link to her official website with the announcement, "OKAY! My BIG surprise is I'm opening the season of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE on Sept 25 W/SNL Alum Amy Poehler!!!"

An SNL representative confirmed to MTV News that Perry, whose new album, Teenage Dream, is the No. 1 song on Billboard charts, will perform during the Sept. 25 episode.

There is currently no news on whether the singer will be included in any of the show’s skits.

Four new comedians, Jay Pharoah, Paul Brittain, Taran Killam, and Vanessa Bayer, will join the rest of the SNL cast.
