Katy Perry, who recently reached a divorce settlement with ex-husband Russell Brand, returned to the Grammy stage with a fresh new start on her mind.

“GRAMMY'S IS GONNA BE FRESH THIS YEAR!” she tweeted prior to the show.

The 27-year-old singer, who not only has a fresh start in her personal life, returned to the Grammy stage with a brand new song.

Perry began her Grammy performance with “E.T.” before transitioning into “Part of Me,” a new track which will be featured on Perry’s deluxe re-release of Teenage Dream called Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection, due out March 27.

Perry gave an empowering performance, singing lyrics that could have directly been aimed at her ex.

"Now look at me, I'm sparking/A firework, a dancing flame/You won't ever put me out again I’m glowing,” she she sang, changing a lyric in her song to say, "So you can keep the diamond ring,” which had many believing that she was, in fact, referencing her divorce.

Just one year ago, Perry performed “Not Like The Movies” and “Teenage Dream” on the Grammy stage. She debuted her wedding video in the background during the performance. Back then, as she was still a newlywed, the theme of her performance was love. What a difference a year makes.
