While Katy Perry made her Saturday Night Live debut over the weekend, she took it upon herself – with the help of host Amy Poehler and former cast-member Maya Rudolph – to poke fun at the Sesame Street incident, which landed Perry on the outs with Elmo as she was dressed too inappropriately.
USA Today reports that Perry was dressed in a cleavage-bearing red top that had Elmo’s face on it, and the singer played a teen who was causing a stir in the library because of her blossoming figure.
"Honey, you've exploded! Kaboom!" Poehler and Rudolph exclaimed. They continued, "Looks like this show is brought to you by the number 38 and the letter double D," and later, "Look at Elmo, his head's all stretched out!"
Paying homage to the controversy that axed the “California Gurls" singer from the popular children’s show on PBS, Poehler and Rudolph’s characters told Perry, "never be embarrassed about your body. Who cares if kids are looking at boobs? Boobs feed babies.”
