Katy Perry’s next single will have her singing about the “The One That Got Away” it was confirmed Wednesday.
Billboard reports Perry, who has already released five singles, “California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream,” “Firework,” “E.T.,” and “Last Friday Night,” all which have hit no.1 and made Teenage Dream a record-breaking album, will release her sixth single next month.
“Nothing ventured, nothing gained,” said Greg Thompson of EMI Music/Capitol Records EVP/marketing and promotion of the decision to release a sixth single off Dream.
Thompson insists the release of “The One That Got Away” isn’t to best Michael Jackson’s record, but because Katy Perry really likes the song.
"If it goes to No. 1, that would be great," said Thompson. "If not, we still have a Katy song on the radio in fourth quarter.”
According to MTV News, Upon its release to radio next month, the song could get a “touch up” from the album version by producer Dr. Luke. Perry is also already “reading treatments” for a video.
