Keira Knightley a Self-Educated Type

Keira Knightley does not want anyone to see any sign of stupidity in her, despite the fact that she dropped out of school at 17, WENN reports.

The actress may specialize in portraying upper crust characters, worldly and with a limitless vocabulary, but Knightley admits that she struggled with school, partly due to her dyslexia. However, trading a chance at university for a career in film and her troubles with academia have only made her more driven to prove her intelligence.

"Dyslexia makes me feel I am going to read absolutely everything so I can prove that I am not stupid," Knightley admits.

But having an admitted "chip on my shoulder" has helped the British actress in some respects. "I am completely uneducated. Not going to university did give me an incredible driving force because it leaves you with a slight chip on your shoulder," she explains.

Knightley just finished filming The Duchess, a film which is due out in September.
