Kelis's Milkshake Brings Nas's Money to the Yard

After an acrimonious, accusation-filled divorce standoff between Nas and Kelis, the judge overseeing their case ordered the Queens rapper on July 23 to compensate Kelis with $55K per month in both spousal and child support, and pay off the mortgage of her Los Angeles home.

He also has to pay up for the baby nurse, prenatal expenses and medical insurance of their child. Worst of all, he even has to give Kelis's celebrity divorce lawyer, Laura Wasser, $35,000.

It is absurd that Nas is ordered to pay nearly $700,000 per year. Kelis has nothing to do with his success and fortune, and has been virtually out of the spotlight since they began their relationship in 2002. While she has been sipping on the milkshake that got her famous in 2003, Nas has been draping her in jewelry and bought her a fat ring for their short-lived marriage.

Not to say that Kelis is a lazy wife that doesn't deserve a penny, but $55K per month sounds extremely excessive. She is the one that divorced him. Kelis probably had it planned out from the beginning: marry, split and then milk him until the udder is sore.

It's cruel enough that she didn't even let him watch their son's birth on July 22. Is she going to get custody too? Will she ever let Nas look at his child?

Now he will be the laughing stock of hip-hop, surely to be referred to in raps when being compared to someone who got a large sum of cash taken from them.

It ain't hard to tell that Nas is furious.
