Kelly Clarkson Cancels Summer Tour

The former American Idol won't be hitting the road this summer.

Kelly Clarkson's tour has been canceled due to disappointing ticket sales. The news comes just three days after she fired her management team and just a week and a half before the release of her latest album, "My December."

At a press release issued yesterday, Michael Rapino, the CEO of concert promotion company LiveNation, said, "We came to the realization that we had bit off more than we could chew."

The concert tour was scheduled to begin on July 11 and end on August 4. The cancellation is the latest in a drama surrounding the American Idol singer. In early May, news surfaced that she and RCA Records president Clive Davis were butting heads over artistic control of her latest album. Clarkson co-wrote the songs on the new album with members of her touring band instead of relying on the songwriting professionals who wrote the material for her previous two albums.

Tickets can be refunded at the point of purchase, and as future dates become available, current ticket holders can purchase tickets through an exclusive pre-sale offer.
