Kelly Clarkson will release her fifth studio album in the fall, but while fans await the arrival of new Clarkson music, the first American Idol winner has teamed up with two of her friends to form the group Already Famous.
The girl group is made up of Clarkson and her two backup singers, Jill Pickering and Kate Rapier. According to Idolator, the trio has been in and out of the studio, and have recorded four songs, including their own versions of Clarkson demos “I’m Not the Only One,” and “And I Remember.”
In this group, unlike many other girl groups, all members equally show off their talents.
“We switch on different songs,” they wrote on their Twitter in response to a fan asking who fronts the band, “We all sing lead, alto, and soprano at different points.”
As for the meaning behind the name, they say it has no deep meaning, it was just funny.
“We couldn’t decide so we went to Sephora and picked the funniest nail polish name,” they wrote. “No deeper meaning.”
It is unclear when or if the new band will release an album, but it is certain Clarkson will release a new single in late August or early September.
