In the tradition of singing divas, American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson is set to kick off the biggest sporting event of the year Feb. 5 by lending her voice for “The Star Spangled Banner.”

The NFL Network has yet to confirm the announcement, but the singer retweeted the Associated Press’s article on her personal Twitter account, The Hollywood Reporter reports.

Several other big musical acts booked to exhibit their talents Feb. 5 are Madonna, who is performing during half time, and country stars Miranda Lambert and Blake Sheldon, helping out with the pre-game festivities, singing “America the Beautiful.”

According to The Associated Press via ABC News, Clarkson was the first winner of American Idol in 2002 and has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide. She is also no stranger to national television having performed as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live several times.

Last year, Christina Aguilera performed the national anthem at Super Bowl XLV, but mixed up the lyrics mid song.

“That night I knew, I just made myself a Trivial Pursuit question. 'In 2011 what female singer, ya know, flubbed the lyrics.' It's just insane,” Aguilera said of the incident.

Others who have performed the national anthem at the Super Bowl are Whitney Houston, Billy Joel, Diana Ross, Neil Diamond, Beyonce, Mariah Carey and Carrie Underwood.

Super Bowl XLVI will take place in Indianapolis on February 5, with kick-off scheduled for 6:30 p.m. EST.
