Kelly Preston said "it's just too soon" to talk about son's death

Kelly Preston pulls out of speaking at Maria Shriver's annual Women's Conference.

Kelly Preston won't be talking about the death of her son, Jett Travolta. Preston had agreed to speak at the annual Women's Conference hosted by Maria Shriver, but apologized and said "it's just too soon" to talk about the loss.

"I am sorry, but I truly believed that I could do it," she said in a statement to People magazine. "Otherwise I never would have said that I could."

She continued, "But I am still in the process of healing, and it's just too soon."

In a statement, Shriver said she supports and understands Preston's decision.

"Everyone has their own path to healing and their own timetable for grieving," she said.

The Conference will be held in Long Beach, Oct. 26-Oct. 27.
