Kelly Ripa plays housewife for her husband Mark Consuelos

Mark Consuelos should be one appreciative husband. Not every man can say that his wife serves him breakfast every morning and can leave for a weekend with the guys without complaint. His wife, Kelly Ripa, opened up to Good Housekeeping in their March issue about her marriage with Consuelos and her housewife qualities.

"I make his coffee every day," Ripa said. "I cook him breakfast in bed every weekend: scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon, wheat toast, and coffee with cream. That’s what he wants. And I serve it to him on a tray."

The Live! host’s traditional behavior makes me picture a 1950s sitcom where the husband yells “Honey I’m home!” and out comes the robotically pleasant housewife. However, Ripa is far from robotic. The cheerful and always hysterical mother of three simply has a good heart and love for her husband.

“I don’t give him a hard time about seeing his friends. He doesn’t need to take me everywhere or do everything with me. I’m very much about us having our own separate time,” Ripa explained to Good Housekeeping. “I don’t give him a hard time about not doing things around the house, like taking out the trash,” she continued.

The couple does have their obstacles when trying to keep the romance alive. With the responsibilities of hosting a successful talk show and parenting Michael, 14, Lola, 10, and Joaquin, 8, the 41-year-old sometimes has difficulty setting aside quality time with Conseulos.

“After the kids go to bed, we have a couple of hours when it’s just us. Otherwise there’d be no time,” Ripa told the magazine. “We used to go away, just the two of us, for three days to celebrate our anniversary every year. I can’t remember the least time we did that.”

Despite their busy schedules, Ripa and Consuelos seem to be doing just fine when it comes to keeping the romantic spark alive. I just hope Consuelos reverses the roles this Valentine’s Day to show his gratitude towards Ripa’s sweet and old-fashioned ways. You have to give this super woman some credit!
