Kelly Rutherford Gives Birth to Baby Girl

Gossip Girl star Kelly Rutherford gave birth to a baby girl Monday night in Los Angeles. Helena Grace weighed 8 pounds, 12 ounces.

"Kelly and the baby are doing fine," Rutherford's rep said according to E! Online.

Despite the joyous occasion, there was still tension between her and her husband, Daniel Giersch.

In a statement released to People magazine, Giersch said he wasn't notified about the birth of his daughter and found out about it through the internet. He called reports criticizing him for not attending the birth "total lies and fabrication."

"I was never informed by Kelly about the birth of our daughter, nor was I invited to attend," Giersch said. "In fact, I found out about it through internet reports like everyone else."

He claimed that Rutherford broke their verbal agreement to notify him about her labor and hospitalization via phone or text, People reported.

"Although this sickens me, I am of course overjoyed that our baby was born healthy. I would've wanted nothing more than to hold our newborn daughter for a few moments and I only seek to coparent both our children responsibly and with love," he said.

Rutherford's publicist, Jill Fritzo, said that the doctos didn't want anyone in the birthing room and that Giersch "was notified when [Helena] was born and was immediately invited to come see her."

Rutherford and Giersch filed for divorce last November and are in a heated custody battle of their two children.
